@mikecazzx I’m not an expert on nutrition but as far as I know, glucose comes from all legumes and beans this diet allows you to eat. So, it’s very plausible one can stick to it in the long term. Atkins is a very diferent story: in his diet, we have a very little source of glucose because the main source of energy is meat and proteins. If you don’t have carbs, your body starves to death. In slow carb diet, you have them.
Can sweet potatoes substitute regular potatoes? As an Irishman i’m finding it very difficult to cut out of my diet :P Incredible book!
I just want to say that I have done TONS of diets and am sure that I have done something similar to 4 hour body diet. My take on it is that YOU most likely WILL gain the weight back. You really have to learn to psychologically program yourself to NOT eat refined sugar and flour for a LONG time, otherwise you GAIN it back. So, discipline yourself to eat less, healthier, exercise often, and eat more protein. Since last yr I have lost 36 lbs and gained 15 lbs in between that I had to loose again.

Cut out white flour, cut out fruit, gee - this is simply the old atkins diet repackaged. Of course you will lose weight. But where are you going to get the glucose that every cell in your body runs on, even that big cell called your BRAIN? We run on glucose. Sure I bet I will lost weight like a rockstar, then I will gain it all back once I start eating more carbs. This does not sound like a long term solution.
I congratulate Jackthelifeman on your success but this information really in the book is old. Any good sports nutritionist that works with bodybuilders and athletes know this. I have been using this for over 20 years…wow, someone writes a book, becomes a best seller..what have I been doing sitting around doing this same thing and not becoming rich? My clients typically lose about 3-8 pounds in the first week and then an average 2-3 per week.
No fruit juices? LOL…. What kind of juices do you have? Where I live, we have NATURAL fruit juice.
@4HourBodyMakeover Hi I’m not an expert on the 4 hr diet, but I am hypothyroid and have also struggled with weight issues. Have you beed tested for food allergies (esp. gluten) or Candida (yeast overgrowth)? Also the chemicals in proceesd foods and non-organic meat can further inhibit your metabolism. I plan on sticking to his “diet” but im curious. Do you think having 2 slices of bread (i have a sandwich for lunch every day, because its easier) would do alot of harm? it is never more that 2 slices a day.
I finished my first week with a free day as outlined in the book and it was a disaster. I loved the week of slow carbing - but the cheat day killed me. I followed directions to a “T” but I gained back the 4.5lbs I lost and then some! I don’t get it. Im taking my pills, lemon before eating, exercises, the whole nine. Im hypothyroid, maybe that has something to do with it - im hop[ing maybe you can shed some light on this. I really like the diet otherwise but im so discouraged

The idea of Slow Carbohydrate means that beans are considered a slow moving carb. They have a tonne of fiber so they make you feel fuller longer. Thus burn slowly. I thought beans were classified as a legume. But if you stick to it it works. You have to be disciplined. The ice packs theory has really yet to be tested on my part. Overall you lose a tonne of weight, but as with any diet its challenging. If you eat out all the time, it really easy to follow !

As a life insurance guy, I thought I’d point out that a few years back my premiums went up when I gained weight. Hello! I asked the obvious question - can I lose weight and lower it. Yes. They said yes. I had to get a physical after losing weight, but that was smart anyway. My .02.

Im really confused, Im not sure if i should try the low carb diet .. my brother is completely against me doing it cause im 14 and its bad for my health . I really dont understand how fruits are fattening also ..can someone please give me advice, im really confused :/
I agree with you and your sarcasm. The funny thing is he is sitting on millions. However stupid it sounds it works. The book is just a tool for an amazing marketing genius. Who has made it as a two time best seller.
Wow this guy is a genius! He has discovered that simple carbs make people fat, and complex carbs don’t! Holy crap! Every bio chemist in the country is wanting to be him right now! That is a truely groundbreaking discovery! Bravo…..

In my fourth week and lost about 12 lbs the first three weeks. The diet is nice and simple.
I did it for a month. It was not hard at all. Body gets use to it. NO Vitamins but I added a green plus green drink every day. I felt my best on this and lost 20 lbs of fat. Thanks for the compliment. I am now attempting the INSANITY program. Stay tuned ……Jack The Lifeman …
